Homeopathy For Cold/Flu and Coronavirus

Prevention of Cold and Flu

WASH YOUR HANDS. This is the most important thing you can do to prevent illness, and to stop
spreading disease. If you want some heavy duty soap to fight against germs. Try Dettol soap. This
soap will most likely not win any awards with EWG, but it is highly regarded for germ prevention.  

If you are over the age of 60, pregnant, a child, or a person with a compromised immune system, you
should wear a N95 mask. N95 masks filter out 95% of airborne particles that may contain viruses.
I would not be shy about wearing the mask to the doctor's office, grocery store, or any place where large
groups of people gather. For some reason, sick people don't seem to stay home. The bad news
concerning these masks is that they are sold out. Amazon and your local stores have these masks on
backorder. Be creative when trying to find one. I found masks at my local Sherwin Williams paint store.
You may try your neighborhood auto shop or plumbing supply store.

What To Take  Prophylactically 
Take Vitamin C Liposomal. It is the best form of vitamin C because of its ability to reach the cells.
Regular vitamin C stays mainly in the blood. At least 1,000mg is recommended. Please verify the
dosage with your doctor.

Vitamin D improves resistance against disease. You should be tested to see how much you actually
need. Most people are deficient, and could at least benefit by taking 2,000IU-5,000IU per day. Again,
check with your doctor or health care provider.

Stay Hydrated. Every tissue, organ and cell in our body needs water to work properly.
Drink, Drink, and Drink more.

Host Defense Mushrooms Immune Support supplement. Mushrooms are an excellent way to help
your body’s immune system.

Elderberry (Samucas Nigra) Syrup is helpful to help fight flu, and colds, because it contains
antioxidants that help boost the immune system. You should speak to your doctor if you have an
autoimmune disease, because sometimes elderberry can cause problems with autoimmune disease.

Arsenicum Album 30C has been recommended to be taken for prevention. It is not a classical approach to take it this way, because homeopathy is based on an individual’s symptoms.  However there are many remedies taken for specific disease pictures. Arsenicum Album has frequently been chosen for this virus. It has an affinity for influenza and pneumonia. 



Please Watch What You Eat....It is SUGAR Season
People associate winter with cold and flu season. Yet, should we just call it sugar season? Just give
this some thought. In October we have Halloween when the consumption of sugar is very high.
November we have Thanksgiving where we consume pies, yams, and other sweets.  During Christmas
we consume more cakes, pies, and candy. February has Valentine’s Day, and that comes with eating
candy. In April there is Easter with still even more candy. Is there any wonder why we are all sick in the
northern hemisphere in the months of October through April?  In Brazil, the "flu" is more common from
April through September which is when they have festivals like Carnival, Cachaça, Junina, and more.
What we all have in common is sugar consumption. Sugar weakens our immune system, and we get
sick. 

This is that time of year where germs fly, and children bring home nice bugs to share with everyone.
There are things you can do prophylactically to help minimize the duration and possibly prevent illness.
Prevention is always the best. 

What to Eat?
You need to have a good diet to avoid sickness. Stay away from junk food, and processed foods.
Think of eating whole foods. There are certain foods that are helpful when it comes to boosting the
immune system. Foods like lemons, strawberries, sauerkraut, kale, sage, black cumin are very helpful
and of course there are many other foods. If it is  difficult to avoid the bad stuff, try the 80/20 rule. If you
can eat well at least 80% of the time, and allow yourself to be bad only 20% of the time, you will still do
well.  

What to Avoid Eating?
I spoke about sugar earlier. However, avoiding sugar needs emphasis. Our white blood cells help fight
off bacteria, viruses, and protect us from illness. Sugar consumption reduces the effectiveness of the
white blood cells. Studies show that 1 can of soda which contains about 20 teaspoons of sugar can
reduce the white blood cells ability to protect the immune system by 40%. This process starts as soon
as 30 minutes after digestion, and can last up to 5 hours. If you are constantly eating sugar you are
causing great harm to your immune system. It is imperative that you avoid refined sugar. If you need a
sweetener, try raw honey.  

Other Things You Should Do
As mentioned earlier, please take your vitamins. However, exercise is helpful too. It boosts the immune
system because physical activity may help flush bacteria out of the lungs, or airways, helping reduce
cold and flu. It also helps lower stress hormones preventing you against illness.  Just a few times every
week will help. When you mention exercise many people think of a treadmill, free weights, jogging, or
running. What about swimming? If you are like me, and do not know how to swim, then this idea may
not be appealing initially. However, if you have problems finding the right kind of exercise, consider swimming. It is low impact and burns a lot of calories. 90% of your body weight is supported by water making it an excellent choice if you have joint pain. Swimming is good for asthma, mental health, dementia, heart disease, diabetes and more. Oh, and if you do not know how to swim, learning how to swim is excellent exercise too. I have been taking drowning lessons (aka: swimming lessons), and getting a lot of exercise because I am moving so much from trying not to drown... Lol!


(**update: It is advisable to stay away from public areas with the current virus outbreak. I suggest 
you try exercise at home. Save the pool idea for the near future)
